Knovva Interview with Vidhur Senthil, an MG20® Alumni
After each Model G20® event, our EdTech company likes to interview a few select students who attended the high school leadership program to get their perspective on the summit and learn more about what made them want to attend.
The interview below is from Vidhur Senthil, a delegate from the 2020 Model G20®.
If you’re interested in learning more about future MG20 events or would like more information about how to register, visit the Model G20® page.
Knovva Academy: Tell us about yourself!
Vidhur Senthil: Hi my name is Vidhur Senthil and I am currently a junior at Upper St. Clair High School in Pittsburgh PA. I love to stay active and take a chance at whatever comes my way.
KA: How do your shoes define you as a person?
VS: My shoes definitely tell a lot about me. More than how the shoe looks, I care more about the price. I do not like to spend a lot of money on shoes because I personally do not think expensive shoes are worth it.
KA: Tell us your experience as a Model G20® delegate.
VS: I had an amazing time as a Model G20® delegate! I was in 9th grade when I attended my first summit in Boston. The summit was very formal and it made me feel like I was experiencing the actual G20. The summit I attended had a strong focus on climate change mitigation and sustainability and it really opened my eyes and gave me a broader view of what is happening in our world. It sparked my passion for environmental action, and ever since that summit, I have started working on a multitude of environmental related projects. Overall, the experience I had at the summit is something I will never forget!
KA: What new thing did you learn today?
VS: Today, I learned that I should start studying harder for Spanish quizzes 🙂
KA: What did you like the most about the summit?
VS: The thing I liked the most about the summit I attended was that I had the opportunity to view the world in a way I had never viewed before. The fact that I could meet students like me from different countries and hear their opinions was very fascinating. When Knovva hosted the virtual Y7 event, I was determined to get the top delegate prize just so I could attend a future summit. Like I said before, The knovva summit really gave me a better perspective about the world and I can’t emphasize that enough.
KA: What did you learn from attending a summit?
VS: I learned many great lessons from the summit. One of the main things I learned was that I should always think about things from a different angle before coming up with a final decision. I have been using this approach in many different applications and I have always had success in accomplishing a task.
KA: How do you feel about rhetorical questions?
VS: I think rhetorical questions are a great way to get a point across.
KA: What would you want to share with the students around the world who might be thinking about signing up for the upcoming Model G20® Virtual Summit, or future in-person summits?
VS: If any student has the opportunity to attend a summit, I think that it would be foolish not to consider it. Back when I was deciding to apply for the summit, I was not really sure if it would be beneficial, but only after going, I can say with full certainty that attending a summit was very helpful.
KA: What’s the opposite of a koala?
VS: I’m not sure if there is an actual opposite of a Koala, but after doing some research, I found out that a dolphin could be considered as an opposite of a koala because dolphins are really smart and are ocean animals.
KA: What are your main takeaways from your experience as a delegate?
VS: I’m pretty sure I’ve said this before, but I would say that the main takeaway is to look at everything from a different perspective before coming up with a decision.
KA: If there could be an answer to just one question that, if responded in one way or another, would deeply affect, confirm, or change the way you think, behave, and live for the rest of your life, what would that question be?
VS: Why? – I feel like this one word is something that I deal with a lot in my life. There are times when I feel like I am not capable of doing something and I want to give up, so I always ask myself why I’m trying to do it in the first place. I always make sure I ask myself why anything I do matters and how it will affect me.
